[Expired] Opportunity for a PhD grant in Marseille, on the characterization of the hydrogenase from a sulfate-reducing bacterium
A consortium of two labs in Marseille passed the first step of selection to obtain a PhD grant. The second step of selection will be the couple student/project. We are then looking for a candidate for this PhD grant. The student must not to have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in France for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the reference date (October 1st, 2018).
The candidate will be involved in the functional and the molecular characterization of the Hnd hydrogenase in the sulfate-reducing bacterium Desulfovibrio fructosovorans. The objectives of this doctoral project are to understand the physiological role of the Hnd hydrogenase in the energy metabolism of the bacterium and to characterize this hydrogenase at the molecular level. The position requires a candidate at the interface between biology and chemistry with a strong educational background in molecular biology, protein biochemistry and microbiology. He/She will be in charge of the production, purification and mutagenesis of proteins. For the characterization of the enzyme and the metabolomic analysis, knowledge of physico-chemical and biophysical techniques, such as NMR, EPR or electrochemistry would be an advantage.
