Dear Bioinorgenic Chemists,

I am sending a personal message to wish you, your colleagues, friends and family a very happy year 2023.

At the beginning of this year 2023, I am handing over the presidency of FrenchBIC to Christelle Hureau, while I am becoming vice-president. I am very grateful to her for taking on this responsibility and for giving a new impetus to the community. I remind you that her appointment follows the decision regarding the election rules taken at the 2020 General Assembly and the results of the following election. The next election in 2024 will appoint a new VP who will replace me and will become president in 2027.

It has been a great pleasure for me to serve as the President of FrenchBIC since 2015. I am amazed by the activity of the community during this time, in spite of the difficulties related to covid, and I warmly thank the board of FrenchBIC and those of you who organized and participated in the many recent FrenchBIC events: three very successful summer schools, five meetings and a new series of webinars. The FrenchBIC has also helped the community by sponsoring various scientific events and by helping 8 young researchers to travel between the FrenchBIC labs to perform experiments. The FrenchBIC has also become a new thematic group of the French Chemical Society. And nineteen research groups have joined FrenchBIC since 2016, which is probably the best testimony of the dynamism of the community.

I am confident that this valuable network will continue to foster collaborations in the field of bioinorganic chemistry and help us to stay united in times when independence is too often valued.

I look forward to seeing you at the next webinar on Jan 17th and the 2023 meeting in Logonna-Daoulas (please register asap!).

With my best regards,

Christophe Léger.
