SUMMARY:[Webinar] "Innovation by Inorganic Chemistry"\, by Harry Gray and Richard Eisenberg
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, April 20th from 11:00am – 1:00pm ET (UTC-5) (5pm UTC+1) \nDear GRC Colleagues\, \nWe are honored to announce the next GRC Connects\, featuring Dr. Harry Gray\, California Institute of Technology\, and Dr. Richard Eisenberg\, University of Rochester\, titled “Innovation by Inorganic Chemistry”. \nWe are thrilled to extend this special invitation to you\, as members of our beloved GRC communities! \nDrs. Gray and Eisenberg have graciously accepted GRC’s invitation to speak at this event\, and will focus their talks on “Sixty Years of Inorganic Chemistry” and “Inorganic Chemistry\, Catalysis and Photochemistry – Tackling Big Problems the GRC Way”. \nDr. Kara Bren\, University of Rochester\, will moderate the conversation as they discuss the role GRCs have played in the great advances of inorganic chemistry in their careers. \nJoin us virtually on Tuesday\, April 20th from 11:00am – 1:00pm ET for cutting-edge talks by these renowned speakers\, followed by ample time for Q&A with the audience. \nPlease click here to register for this free event. Help us spread the word by sharing this invitation with your colleagues. We hope to see you there! \nBest regards\, \nDr. Nancy Ryan Gray\, President and CEO of Gordon Research Conferences (GRC) \nGRC Connects is an initiative of the Gordon Research Conferences that provides opportunities for GRC communities to connect and collaborate until we resume in-person meetings\, furthering GRC’s commitment to find new and creative ways to advance the frontiers of science. \nPlease click the link below to join the webinar: https://zoom.us/j/92280597046?pwd=Q1Jpa1lnUWZuS2VtU3RDbjY0ZGUxZz09 Webinar ID: 922 8059 7046 / Passcode: 02892

SUMMARY:JBIC Symposium – Artificial Metallocatalysis towards in vivo applications
DESCRIPTION:Thu\, April 29\, 2021\, 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM CEST \n\n\n\nThis 2.5 h online-only Symposium features the latest research on artificial metalloenzyme catalysis\, presented by JBIC\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this Event\n\n\nThe design of artificial metalloenzymes is a hot topic in Bioinorganic Chemistry. Novel chemistry can be engineered into known enzyme scaffolds\, either by modifying the enzyme or the cofactor. Clever catalyst design enables the realization of bioorthogonal catalytic reactions in vivo. Applications include the production of value-added chemicals from microorganisms\, the complete re-programming of microbes as “chemical factories”\, the in situ activation of drugs\, and many more. This symposium shines light on the most recent developments in this rapidly developing area of Bioinorganic Chemistry\, presented by some of the leading scientists of the field. \nWhen?\nThe Symposium is scheduled for April 29\, 2021\, 14 – 17 h CET (Central European Time = UTC+2). \nHow?\nThe symposium will feature six speakers in two subsequent sessions\, in total about 2.5 hours of focused content and discussion. Each contribution will be 15 min.\, plus five minutes reserved for discussion. There will be virtual Breakout rooms with each individual speaker during the break after each session in order to facilitate interaction with participants (especially PhDs and postdocs). \nWhere?\nThe symposium will be online only and broadcasted as a life event through Zoom. Registration until 24 h before the event is mandatory for participation. A link will be emailed to all registered participants prior to the meeting. \n\n\nSpeaker List\nAsier Unciti-Broceta (Cancer Research UK Edinburgh Centre\, The University of Edinburgh\, UK) \n“Focal chemotherapy under bioorthogonal control” \nJose L. Mascarenas (Santiago de Compostela\, Spain) \n“Exporting transition metal catalysts to biological contexts” \nClemens Mayer (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen\, The Netherlands) \n“Title to be announced” \nWoon Ju Song (Korea) \n“Design and Evolution of De Novo Oligomeric Metalloenzymes” \nThomas Ward (University of Basel\, Switzerland) \n“Title to be announced” \nCathleen Zeymer (TU Munich\, Germany) \n“Design and engineering of lanthanide-binding proteins: from de novo metal coordination to catalysis” \n  \n\n\nAdditional Information\nThe JBIC Symposium will be held back-to-back with one online session of the International Symposium on Bioorganometallic Chemistry (ISBOMC-21)\, organized by Prof. Ingo Ott on April 28. This will give added visibility to both events. \nThis JBIC Symposium is one in a series of three JBIC Symposia held in the first half of 2021. Check out the other JBIC Symposia on Eventbrite.com\, or visit JBIC under the homepage of the Society of Bioinorganic Chemistry (SBIC) for further information. \n\n\nCode of Conduct\nDisruptive Conduct: The Organizer wishes to create a safe virtual space for all. You acknowledge and agree that The Organizer reserves the right to remove you from the JBIC Symposium if The Organizer\, in its sole discretion\, determines that your participation or behavior create a disruption or hinder the JBIC Symposium or the enjoyment of the Symposium content by other attendees. \nRecording\, Live Streaming\, and Videotaping: Participants may not record or broadcast audio or video of JBIC Symposia. A recording of the event will available to SBIC members only through the Society’s web site.
